History

It was in the beautiful traditional country village dating from the Middle Ages in the southern part of Belgium that Roger PONCIN has decided to start a new future in 1943.
At the end of the Second World War, constructors turned to steel structures for the reconstruction of the war damages. The first workshop ‘Le Résistant’ (meaning the resistant) soon started to knock on the doors of the most important companies of that time. The ‘Ateliers PONCIN’ quickly built itself a name for quality and respect for the clientele and acquired contracts for important constructions in the steel industry, nuclear power plants, gas-steam power plants, several bridges and other important projects.
But mentioning PONCIN means exportation. During the seventies, the company laid out its ambitions : export to the Middle East, Saudi-Arabia, Emirates, Iran, and Egypt. In these markets the Ateliers PONCIN proved its know-how and capacity to adapt to an international market.

During the last decade of the last century the strategy of the Ateliers PONCIN oriented more to industrial steel structures and public works e.g. bridges, fly-overs, etc. : this in cooperation with architects and engineering offices of world fame.
From the start of the seventies, the Ateliers PONCIN had the foresight to invest in the most advanced computer technologies, resulting in that they were one of the first European constructors using CAD/CAM systems for their structures. This hi-tech tradition is still part of the company’s philosophy today.
The Ateliers PONCIN : a company, its personnel and a technology at the service of quality and the total satisfaction of the clientele.
At this moment the sons of Roger Poncin, Francis and Albert have taken over the day-to-day running of the company and the sons of Francis –Yves and Vincent – are waiting in the wings
